Class 5 English Chapter 103: Revision Sets

Revision Sets is Chapter 103 of NCERT / CBSE Class 5 English. This page has the complete chapter notes — all written to the NCERT / CBSE syllabus and free to read.

How to Use the Revision Sets

A short set after every chapter from the second on: two questions from the chapter just finished and three from chapters further back.

What you will be able to do

  • Sit a five-question set in five minutes without notes.
  • Notice which older chapters have gone quiet and go back to them.
  • Treat a wrong answer as a chapter to reread, not a mark lost.

Full explanation

What these sets are

There are 9 sets here, 45 questions in all. One set follows each chapter from the second onwards. Every set holds five questions: two from the chapter you have just finished, and three from chapters you finished earlier.

Why the old questions keep coming back

A chapter you studied once in June is mostly gone by August. A chapter you were asked about again in July, and once more in September, is not. That is the whole idea, and it is why the three older questions are never all from the chapter just before. They are pulled from three different distances: one from nearby, one from the middle of the book, one from near the beginning.

How to sit one

Five minutes, closed book. Do not look anything up while you work, because looking it up is what stops the remembering. Mark it straight afterwards.

What a wrong answer means

A wrong answer on a question from Chapter 2, sat in October, is not a bad day. It is Chapter 2 telling you it has faded, and it is worth twenty minutes of rereading before the term paper. That is the only thing these sets are for.

You have seen every one of these questions before, in the practice of the chapter it came from. None of them is new. If one feels new, that is the measurement working.
